Job Posting: Associate Pastor of Outreach
North Harford Baptist Church in Jarrettsville, MD is seeking the man God has equipped to join our staff and fill the position of Associate Pastor of Outreach. We believe this position will help the church be intentional in its commission to make, baptize, and teach disciples (Matthew 28:19-20), and to see them serving, properly working as individual parts of the church body (Ephesians 4:16).
North Harford Baptist exists to honor Christ in this community, proclaiming and glorifying Him, and edifying His church. We are dedicated to understanding what God has said in the Bible and teaching its practical application to daily life. We are members of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Susquehanna Association of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware.
A Snapshot of Our Church
We worship together on Sundays at 10:45 AM with an average attendance of 135(membership of 194) and at 6:30 PM with an average of 40. Our small group Bible studies (Sunday School) for all ages meet at 9:30 AM on Sundays and average 95. We have Wednesday evening activities as well for all ages and on Fridays the youth (7th-12th) meet for teaching and activities.
Both services include expository teaching from the Bible. Our worship team, accompanied by guitar and piano, leads the services.
Our current facility was dedicated in 1975 and seats approximately 350. The original church building is used for youth and Sunday School classes. The main level has been converted into a gymnasium. The church owns two parsonages.
Our Retiring Pastor John Manry has served the church since 1986 and has been Senior Pastor since 1989. He and his wife, Jody, have five married children. He will be retiring after March 12, 2023. He agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and embraces the historical "reformed" Baptist understanding of doctrine expressed by Dr. Albert Mohler, Dr. Tom Nettles, Mark Dever, and others. He has actively served the Seminaries, the local Association and the State Convention throughout his ministry.
Pastor-Elect Matt Fortunato has served the church as Associate Pastor of Discipleship since August 2018 and was elected to be our next Senior Pastor October 16, 2022. Also agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and embraces the historical "reformed" Baptist understanding of doctrine.
A Look at Our Community
Northern Harford County is a growing rural community. Once a mostly agricultural area it is now scattered with housing developments. Many of the residents commute to the Baltimore area for employment. The community is a mixture of families living here for generations as well as new residents escaping city crowding, taxes, and noise.
Harford County is a beautiful area of rolling hills and farmland. The summers are hot with high humidity, the winters are mild to cold with several significant snowstorms each year. Spring and autumn are especially beautiful. We have state parks in the county and many hiking trails, rivers, and the nearby Chesapeake Bay. Baltimore is less than an hour away and boasts professional sports teams, museums, exemplary hospitals, and cultural events. There are wonderful destinations within a few hours to explore and lots of rich, American history.
Many grocery stores are within 7-12 miles, including an Aldi and nearby Forest Hill, Bel Air, and Fallston offer a mall, shopping centers, Walmart, and numerous restaurants. Jarrettsville has a nice public library.
